If your current home feels like it can use additional space, then you can implement a variety of ways to make it look and feel bigger. You can easily declutter unused things to make everything look neat and organised. Believe it or not, there are a lot of great ways that you can actually make your house both look and feel a lot larger than it is in reality. These little tricks can make a huge difference that will leave you and your guests amazed every time you walk through the door. If you want to know more about how you can accomplish all this, keep on reading.

Fake Windows

One of the coolest ways to make a house look larger is by actually creating fake windows in the home. If you haven’t noticed before, homes with a lot of windows and natural light streaming in seem a lot more open and spacious than those that have a few tiny windows and are very dark inside. These brighter, “bigger” homes may not even be all that much larger, but the windows make it seem so. In order to create that open feeling you may be looking for, start by finding one of your walls that looks like it could or should have a window in it. After you have done this, you’ll want to purchase a “frame” for your window.

This is the pretty cool part about the process. You don’t’ need to buy an actual window frame. In fact, you can go to antique shops or places like that to find a frame that is maybe a little bit more rustic and unique looking that fits with the theme of your home. The frame should preferably have glass or a mirror in it, but it doesn’t have to by any means. After that, you can mount that frame on your wall.

Some people choose to leave it like this, however the fake window effect works a lot better if you actually make it look like a real window. This means you might want to consider getting some curtains or drapes to hang above the fake window so it fits in better with the other windows. Plus, in order to get that extra light into the room, you can even install backlighting that will make it look like sun is coming in from behind the drapes. This one extra window might not seem like a whole lot, but it can greatly improve the overall feel and look of the home.

Open Spaces

Another thing you should think about is creating the most open and inviting feeling in your home as you possibly can. This can be done in many ways—some much cheaper and more reasonable than others. If you own your home, you could always think about knocking down some walls and doing some renovation to make your home a more open concept place. This means that everything is essentially connected and there aren’t a bunch of walls separating things, which can really make a house feel much larger. However, if you don’t have the desire to do that, you can make it happen in a much easier way. For example, instead of keeping all your doors closed all the time, leave them open so you can see into the other rooms, making things feel a bit more spacious. You can even try rearranging your furniture until you get a good feel for what you like best and what makes the house look larger, even if it really isn’t.
