You don’t have to live right on the beach to enjoy the same fun and relaxing atmosphere it provides. With a little bit of ingenuity and work, you can decorate your home using beach-inspired elements. Both guests and family members are sure to fall in love with your home’s new style of decor. If this is something you are interested in, keep reading to learn more about how to achieve a beach-inspired home decor.

Beach Colors

The single most important element in a beach-inspired home is the color palette. If it’s not done correctly, you simply won’t be able to create a beach theme in your home. On the other hand, the right colors will bring all of the surrounding elements together, completing your beach theme.

So, what colors should you use in a beach-inspired home? Generally speaking, you’ll want to stick with warm, bright colors while avoiding dark ones. Some excellent color choices to use are off-white, light blue, yellow and green. If you need some inspiration and ideas for color choices, try looking at photos of beach condominiums and hotels, as these are prime examples of beach decor. Just remember to avoid use black, dark blue and taupe, as these colors will pull you away from the beach theme.

Seashells

We really can’t talk about beach decorating without mentioning the use of seashells. If you have some seashells from one of your previous trips to the beach, try placing them in a glass jar or bowl to use as a decorative home accessory. Depending on how many you have, you might be able to fill up an entire vase with them. Don’t be afraid to experiment with new ideas and holders for your seashells. While some people may place them in glass vases, others may spread them across shelves without any additional holders.

Just because you don’t have any seashells in your possession doesn’t mean you can’t use them. Instead of scouring the beach for hours on end, check online to see if you can find some seashells for sale. There are a number of bulk suppliers who sell them specifically for home decorating. Contrary to what some people may believe, seashells are actually fairly cheap and don’t cost a ton of money.

Other “Beachy” Decorations

Of course, there are plenty of other wonderful decorations to use in a beach-inspired home. For instance, you could place a ship-in-a-bottle out for display on a shelf or bookcase. These unique decorative accessories create an instant focal point in the room, and people will guests will likely ask you about them from the moment they see it.

Fishing net is another fun decorative accessory that’s perfect to use in a beach-inspired home. You can tack some old fishing net up on the wall to help fill the voided gap with a unique element. If you are really feeling adventurous, you can even go one step further by adding starfish or old fishing lures into the net. Just remember to remove any hooks before hanging them in the fishing net.
