4 Guiding Tips To Efficiently Organizing Your Closet

by Editor on June 10, 2013

Sooner or later most of us experience a very messy closet. In fact some people make it a chore to clean out the closet once a year or as part of their spring cleaning.

Having a clean and organized closet allows you to think freely and enjoy the experience of getting ready for your day. It also allows you to relax when coming home especially when it is properly maintained.

What you will learn from having a big clear out and organizational session of your closet is that you should just keep on top of it at all times, as it will make your life much easier, you’ll know what you own, and you’ll always be able to find what you’re looking for on any occasion.

Making Decisions

You may have clothes stored in your closet from 3, 5, or even 10 years ago. Be prepared to try clothes on as your weight may have fluctuated from past years. For some clothes you will be able to tell whether or not you want them as they may not be in style anymore or simply may not match your current taste. Be honest with yourself; are you really going to wear that front zip up dress ever again?

Too many clothes can eventually lead to very little space being open for any new clothing.

Be Patient

Depending on how messy and unorganized your closet is, patience is key. For some people it may only take a half hour to an hour to clean it out, however for others it may take up to 2 or 3 hours. Having patience through this process will allow you to finish it properly and efficiently. Rushing too much can have the end result be not as expected.

Start Organized

There is nothing worse than beginning to organize your closet in a messy bedroom. Make sure your bedroom and the area which you will lay out your clothes is clean and open, free of any other useless essentials that may get lost or even get in the way. Working with a clean area will allow you to properly lay out clothes and even create appropriate piles for categories of clothes.

When your entire closet is cleaned out, the clothes you took out will be much more visible and you can approach your closet organization with a much more clear mind. You won’t have to have your sliding wardrobe doors open to a messy closet anymore.

Have A Plan

Approaching this process with a plan is vital. A plan will allow you to complete this project successfully. You may have a lot of closet space, thus are willing to organize it section by section so you don’t end up being too overwhelmed. You may also decide to organize your clothes very specifically, making a pile for jeans, sweats, workout attire, and more.

There are many ways you can approach this project. However, make sure you really digest some of the above tips, as it will help make your overall experience go much more smoothly.
